This is a 10 months Early Stage Researcher (ESR) training position designed to contribute towards the completion of a PhD degree. The candidate will work on phenomenology of particle physics (neutrino, dark matter, dark energy, or BSM physics) at University of Goettingen (Germany) hired by the UGOE node of the EU network “Elusives” (www.elusives.eu).


The deadline for application will be next December 1st. The starting date is preferably 15th January or as soon as possible after that.

All nodes of the network, e.g., the main and the associated ones, will contribute to the training, and the research effort will focus on collaborations throughout the network. The position includes a short stay at one of our private sector partners.


Yearly meetings of the complete network are foreseen and will be attended by the ESR. The student will also collaborate on the outreach activities of the network.


The salary consists of the gross Monthly Living Allowance of 3,110 EUR per month pondered by the EU correction coefficient; in addition, a Mobility Allowance of 600 EUR per month will be paid, and also possibly another 500 EUR per month of Family Allowance depending on marital status. The ESR salary is subject to local tax, social benefit and other deductions following the German regulations.


The candidates must demonstrate a high level of accomplishment and excellence in her/his previous academic experience.


By EU requirements, eligible candidates may be of any nationality and, at the time of signing the contract upon joining the destination:


  • Must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers and have not yet been awarded a doctoral degree. This four-year span is measured from the date when they had obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the training will be provided. This applies irrespective of whether he/she intends to obtain a PhD degree.

  • Must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation (Germany) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date. Short stays such as holidays and/or compulsory national service are not taken into account.
