ESR Bruno Martin on the High Luminosity upgrade for the LHC in El País newspaper

Bruno Martín reports from CERN on the HiLumi upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider

July 17, 2018 by Bruno Martin

In a feature for El País, Bruno Martin explains the upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider to its High Luminosity mode, which seeks to increase the proton-proton collisions by a factor of 5 to 7. This will be achieved by focusing the beams with new superconducting quadrupole magnets and 'crab' cavities that tilt the incoming particle bunches before each collision.
