Drawing inspiration from the chemical properties of batteries, a diverse and international group of scientists lead by Phil Baran from the Scrippts Institute in La Jolla has devised a new method which is "cheap and robust" and "technically feasible" to synthesise drugs that previously required costly and dangerous chemical reactions.
